Hi, I’m John, a freelance web designer based in Birmingham. I make modern, engaging websites that give independents and small businesses a lift, with branding and print along the way.
Hi, I’m John
Nobody wants to pinch and zoom their way round a menu. Your site should load quickly, read well on a small screen and make it obvious how to get in touch.
If customers look you up before they ring, your website is doing a lot of the selling. A good one earns their trust before you’ve spoken, and makes getting in touch the natural next step.

Listings people can actually search, and valuations booked online instead of over the phone.
A menu that reads properly on a phone, with table bookings and orders to collect.
Clients book themselves in online while you’re busy with the person in the chair.
Your best reviews front and centre.
A shop that looks as good as your flowers, with same-day delivery.
…and gyms too. Tell me about yours
For me, good design is mostly about how a site feels to use. When it’s easy, people stay longer, and they come back.
You deal with me from the first chat to launch day and beyond, rather than being passed between account managers.

The things most people want to know before we talk.
A small website starts from £500, a medium site of five pages or more from £900, a large site of ten pages or more from £1,500 and a small online shop from £1,800. After a quick call you get a fixed quote, so you know the full price before anything starts.
A small website usually takes about a week from our first chat to going live, a medium site two to three weeks, and larger sites and shops four weeks or more. You’ll get a timeline along with your quote, and a fast turnaround can be requested.
It depends on the site. A one-page site works like a shop window, with no logins or back end to look after, which keeps it cheaper, faster and more secure. When you need a change, email me and I’ll do it, quoted up front, or included on a care plan from £40 a month. If you’d rather do it yourself, I can add an editor, quoted to suit the site. Large sites and shops come with an editor included, so you can change words, photos and products yourself.
Yes. I can design your logo and choose your colours and fonts, then build the site to match. For PATCH I also rolled the brand out across uniforms, print and a car wrap.
Yes. Every page is designed for phones first and built to load quickly. I also sort out the things Google looks for, such as page titles, descriptions, tidy headings and properly sized images, so people can find you from the day you go live. Where they’ll help, I add search pages for your main services and the areas you cover, included in the price, and help you set up your Google Business Profile so you show up on Maps.
Yes, if you’d like me to. Hosting is £10 to £15 a month depending on the site, and keeps it online, secure and backed up. It’s included if you’re on a care plan (from £40 a month), which also covers updates and new pages. Your web address is registered in your name, usually £10 to £20 a year, so it’s always yours. Shopify shops are paid to Shopify directly.
Yes. We keep what’s working, fix what isn’t, and move everything across carefully so your customers can still find you.
A conversation about your business and what you want the site to do. Your logo, photos and words all help, but if you don’t have them yet, we can sort them out together.
Not the big ones. For a larger shop I design every page, then hand the designs over to a Shopify developer to build. If you’ve only got a handful of products, I can set the shop up and get you selling.
I’m a graphic and web designer, and I’ve spent 14 years in agencies and in-house teams working on websites, brands, print, packaging, films and online shops. These days I work directly with small businesses, making modern, engaging websites that give your brand a lift and bring in more business, with some branding and print along the way.
